Less than a year later, in March 2024, media reported that Brisbane — the planned host for the 2032 Olympics — considered pulling out, also over cost concerns. This should not be surprising, given that the three latest Summer Games cost a combined USD 51 billion and had an average cost overrun of 185% in real terms...Cost overruns are the norm for the Games, past, present and future. The Iron Law applies: 'Over budget, over and over again.'"
